February 18

This was the fifth Lunchtime Short Seminar , the second in a series on drug waste, in which we explained why drug waste is occurring in Japan, how the situation differs from other countries, and future prospects.

We held an orientation for the 4th Clinical Trial Ambassador Training participants. Thirteen patients and members of the public are participating in the 4th training.

February 3, 17 & 18

We held a Clinical Trial Ambassador Networking Event . This networking event was held over three days, and everyone was free to participate at their convenience. Although there were not many people who attended, everyone was able to share their daily thoughts and experiences.

January 30 & February 14

At the second special seminar , YORIAILab members and clinical trial ambassadors studied the key points of the revised 3rd edition of ICH GCP and the challenges to be overcome in implementing it.

We held a pre-training networking event for the 4th Clinical Trial Ambassador Training participants. This was a chance for everyone who will be studying together until July to get to know each other.

December 18 & 20

We held a mock clinical trial workshop for the 3rd Clinical Trial Ambassador Training. This workshop was developed by AstraZeneca and has been introduced into the core program of the Clinical Trial Ambassador Training from this term.

December 16

The third lunchtime short seminar was held. Hiroyuki Wadahama from the International Public Relations Office of the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application, Kyoto University, explained how to communicate medical research to patients and the public and examples of its implementation. He shared various efforts to make medical research known to patients and the public.

December 13th

A lecture on Patient Experience Data was given at the 45th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Clinical Pharmacology (venue: Omiya Sonic City).

December 4th and 6th

We conducted a review of the 3rd Clinical Trial Ambassador Training Hands-on Session. We received many suggestions from the training participants regarding the use of the clinical research portal site.

November 28

The third issue of the YORIAILab Newsletter has been published. It also gives an overview of upcoming activities.

November 21st and 28th

We invited Professor Kotone Matsuyama and Professor Chieko Kurihara as lecturers to discuss the 2024 revision of the Declaration of Helsinki and the Helsinki Statement. A special seminar was held. YORIAILab members and clinical trial ambassadors had a discussion.

November 18

The second lunchtime short seminar was held. This time, we explained about drug lag and drug loss. We are planning to hold a sequel to this seminar on February 18, 2025.

November 13 & 15

We held the 3rd Clinical Trial Ambassador Training - Hands-on session . This time, we had tutors who are active as clinical trial ambassadors.

We held the 2024 Extraordinary General Meeting and Clinical Trial Ambassador Exchange Meeting. Thank you to all members and clinical trial ambassadors for participating.

We held the 1st Patient and Citizen Engagement Seminar. Thank you for your participation. All those who register will have access to the recording and materials of the seminar.

November 1st

At this year's Japan Lung Cancer Society Patient Advocacy Program, I spoke about the "Clinical Trial Ambassador" initiative together with the clinical trial ambassadors and a doctor from the National Cancer Center Hospital. Patients and members of the public who attended the lecture also applied to participate in the next Clinical Trial Ambassador Training (orientation in February 2025, starting in March).

At this year's DIA Japan Annual Meeting, we were involved in two sessions as part of the DIA Bioethics Community's efforts. The first was a comprehensive workshop on PEDs (PED Short Course), held for the first time in Japan in collaboration with PFMD (Patient Focused Medicines Development) . During this short course, people from a variety of backgrounds came together to discuss the use of PEDs. We plan to publish a summary of the results together with PFMD and our team at a later date. In addition, prior to the short seminar, we also worked with PFMD to create a Japanese version of the PED Navigator Tool. If you would like to learn more about PEDs or obtain the Japanese version of the Navigator Tool, please visit the PED Hub   The second lecture is about Plain Language Summary. There is growing awareness of the importance of "easy-to-understand" summaries not only for clinical trials but also for academic papers and conference presentations. If you want to know more about PLS, please visit the PLS Hub . These two knowledge hubs will gradually expand their content. Please look forward to them.

We started the YORIAILab Lunchtime Short Seminar with the aim of creating an opportunity to learn new things . In the first seminar, we talked about "Patient Experience Data (PED)" (repeated on November 7). In particular, there were several questions about the methods and challenges of conducting qualitative research (interviews).

In June of this year, Kyodo News interviewed YORIAILab and the Clinical Trial Ambassadors, and an article about them was published on the 47NEWS website under the headline "Learn more about clinical trials: Aiming to facilitate drug development." Read the article here .

We participated in the ARO Council Academic Conference (Kobe) on September 20-21 and this year's National Rare Disease Center Research Conference (Osaka) on September 27-28, where we spoke with our clinical trial ambassadors about social co-creation activities through YORIAILab.

We have started the third phase of clinical trial ambassador training . This time, seven people, including patients and their families, are participating.

We are now accepting applications for the third term of our Clinical Trial Ambassador Training course. (Application deadline: July 31, 2024)

Thank you to everyone who participated in our founding seminar on June 17th. A total of 154 people participated, and we were humbled by the positive feedback we received during the chat session after the seminar. YORIAILab will continue to provide useful information and seminars, so we appreciate your continued support.

May 21-23

We participated in the Patient Engagement Open Forum (an international forum for industry, government, academia and patients held in Baveno, Italy). In the session "Patient Experience Data to Drive Decision Making," we spoke about the current state of PPI in Japan and the outlook for utilizing Patient Experience Data.

We have established the general incorporated association YORIAILab. With the Clinical Trial Ambassador Project at its core, we will continue to promote social co-creation with all of our Clinical Trial Ambassadors. We look forward to your continued support.

We introduced the Clinical Trial Ambassador Project and its parent organization, YORIAILab, at Lunch Seminar 1 of the 15th General Meeting of the Japan Society of Clinical Trials and Clinical Trials .

The second phase of the Clinical Trial Ambassador Training ended with today's review session. Eight people completed all the courses in the training this time and became Clinical Trial Ambassadors. .

A lecture was given on the Clinical Trial Ambassador Project at the 39th Research Conference of the National Rare Disease Center Research Association.

November 28

The efforts of the clinical trial ambassadors have been published in Ethical innovation for global health. Singapore ( Kurihara C, Greco D, Dhai M, editors ).

September 22

The second day of the second clinical trial ambassador training was held .

September 19 & 26

We held the second social gathering with the first batch of Clinical Trial Ambassadors.

September 16-17

We set up a booth to introduce the Clinical Trial Ambassador Project at the 23rd Conference on CRC and Clinical Trials 2023 in Okayama. We also gave a lecture titled "Clinical Trial Ambassador (efforts to support proper understanding of clinical trials and patients' decision-making to participate in clinical trials)" at Co-hosted Seminar 5 .

September 8

We have started the second training session for clinical trial ambassadors. This time, eight people from five patient groups are participating.
