& Online (Zoom Webinar)
15:10~ Keynote speech by Kento Asano
Osaka University Hospital, Department of Future Medical Development
This presentation will focus on the evolution of clinical trials in the digital age and the role of patient communities. Patient communities are no longer simply a forum for information exchange; they have evolved into communities of practice, where patients learn from each other and influence the healthcare system. While the widespread use of digital tools has expanded their functionality, promoting online information sharing and empowerment, challenges remain, such as representativeness and information quality. International examples such as "PatientsLikeMe" offer significant insights into the realization of patient-centered healthcare. Furthermore, the use of "Patient Experience Data (PED)," which digitizes patients' subjective experiences, and the introduction of decentralized clinical trials (DCT), which reduces the burden of patient visits, offer greater potential for patient voices to improve the quality of clinical research. Going forward, we need an era in which all stakeholders, including patients, can co-create solutions to problems and work together to build better healthcare.
